It is that time of the year when the Alumni Cell is once more, buzzing with activity. The Chapter Meets are just around the corner and the anticipation is palpable. We have been joined by a fresh new team overflowing with enthusiasm, ideas and energy, thus infusing new life into the cell. The invitation calling has begun in full swing and about 300 odd calls are being made every day.
Last year we were delighted with the turnout at the Chapter Meets at the various cities and this year too we are looking forward to welcoming an even larger number of Alumni.
We, students at PUMBA, have been doing a 8 day internship with Pune police. We will be working with Pune police for 8 days and would understand how they work. Objective of this mission is to reduce the negative impression of Pune police from the layman's mind and to bring police and public closer. And also to motivate pune police to work more honestly and with more enthusiasm. This program has been initiated by Pune Police Commisionor Ms Meera Borankar with the help of our Dean Capt Chitale.
Following is the Road Map of this internship.
Today, I had a meeting with Dr. Paul Kim, CTO, Stanford School of Education who told me about this new OLPC computer. The new OLPC computer is a tablet, has looks like the iPad and its probably going to give the iPad a run for its money.
The tablet may achieve the original pricepoint of $100 (Rs 4,500) for the device. Marvell’s new Moby educational tablet platform based on ARM-based chips serve as the brains of this re-designed low-power tablet computer.
Rita Mulcahy, 50 who was a prolific Project Management author and teacher, is no more. She died on May 15th 2010 due to Breast Cancer.
Rita's books and teaching methodology has helped many professionals studying for PMP exam. I am certainly indebted to her excellent study material for helping me become a PMP (Project Management Professional)

The reunion of the Batch of 1985 took place on 24th April 2010. It was a silver jubilee year for them and hence the event “Action Replay 2010”.
India has mandated compulsory education for all children from age 6 to 14. Thus, primary education for children is a basic right by law in India now.
There is a huge digital divide between the well-to-do educated Indians and the millions who stay in rural India. It is the duty of the citizens as well as Corporate India to support the basic right to education for all children.

With bated breath we waited for the first of the alumnus to show up for the event that was exclusively hosted for the Batch of 1990 – REMINISCENCE. Slowly but surely they came. Our aim was for them to relive their days in the university and hence the point of gathering was chosen as the University Canteen. The enthusiasm on meeting each other was there for all to witness. They greeted each other with hugs and names that, only, they knew the significance of. Breakfast for a typical student here is the famous vada pav or poha and that is exactly what they feasted on. This was followed by a walk through the winding paths of the University all the way to the campus of PUMBA.
