The reunion of the Batch of 1985 took place on 24th April 2010. It was a silver jubilee year for them and hence the event “Action Replay 2010”.
It was the last day of exams for MBA-BT and we were all wondering whether we will be able to complete the task at hand in the allocated 2 hours. However the Batch of 1985 left us with little to do. They were extremely proactive and took care of all the responsibilities that are usually ours. They not only brought along banners and posters but also arranged the caterers and photographer. The Alumni Cell witnessed a level of enthusiasm so infectious that it left an indelible mark on us. The Batch of 1985 took every initiative there was to make this event a grand success.
We were all pleasantly surprised when 20 people walked in through PUMBA wearing identical t-shirts with “ACTION REPLAY 2010” emblazoned on their backs. In all honesty the only duty given to us was to arrange the venue and facilitate the interactions between alumni and students.
The event began with a movie on PUMBA- a representative journey of the year that was, followed by a tour of PUMBA where they interacted with students from the seven cells. The tour ended with the entire group walking into the auditorium where the stage was set for a fun albeit interactive session. Gracing the event was also Dr. (Capt.) C. M. Chitale, Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences, University of Pune. He began the session with a small address that gave our alumni an insight into the present status of PUMBA encompassing its infrastructure, courses, students and extra-curricular activities. He ended his address with a request that all the alumni introduce themselves and share with us their experiences and memories. Each of them briefed us about their current job profile and the opportunities and obstacles related to their respective professions. They gave us an insight into how one must go about finding the correct job once you leave a B-school. Even though they were from a variety of backgrounds and industries their advice will be very helpful to all our students. Everyone was, however, unanimous on assuring us help should we need any.
Next, we moved onto our trademark felicitation ceremony that is a part of every reunion. It was performed, once again, by Pritam Agawne and he placed the turbans and tiaras on our alumni amongst cheers and claps from their peers. With this we concluded the session.
We bid adieu to the Batch of 1985 and left them to continue with their evening full of fun, an evening of rekindling and reliving fond memories and an evening of togetherness. It was indeed our pleasure to host this event and we cannot thank our alumni enough for showing such passion and fervour towards their reunion! We hope to replicate their enthusiasm in all our future events..
