Attended PUMBA Alumni meet after long time, it was really nice to see the new campus.

Rather the sole reason for attending the meet was the fact that it was being held on the institute campus.

As always have offered to guide the students in the feedback form.

At Quick Heal we recently organised AVAR 2008 ,a global security conference from 10th to 12th December 2008,  at Hotel Taj Palace in Delhi .

Its been some time since I saw a descent shower (Not the one from the tap) in Pune. Have been trying to guage the reason for failure of rains in the city , and suddenly something struck me . I travel frequently to Delhi , where the rains have failed consecutively over last few years. On discussing the matter with my friends there ,they had a very funny way of putting it. Delhi main  pap bahut badh gaya hai !!!! isiliye barish nahi hoti. And yes I too have started introspecting on the same and am trying to relate the situtaion in Pune with that in Delhi !!!.

One of the most debated topics on the major Indian websites is the financial crisis in US (Subprime crisis seems to be the right word) , and its impact on the Indian economy. The sensex too displayed sensitivity , and lost a neat chunk. People are discussing pink slips and much more. It will be really nice to have some practical (unbiased) debate on the matter. Main reason why this intrests me is my insulation from most of the above stuff, due to the nature of industry that I work for . And lets hope that some good inputs here will help us in taking future decisions , and planning.

With the current downslidein Sensex , I added a new term to my vocabulary "Notional loss" !!!!!
In the morning I joined the staff and colleagues in our Baroda office , and yes the whole discussion was centred on this downfall , people were quoting various figures as loss incurred by them due to the downslide.
To enhance my poor knowledge , I asked the guys as to when they had entered the market , and was surprised to learn that most of them had entered around 9000.
With my limited knowledge I said that, my logic tells me that loss incurred  by you cannot be as high as being quoted , since the Sensex is still around 8500+.

With availability of good bandwidth (much better than the dial up connections) at attractive rates, the net connection has reached a large chunk of people even in B and C class cities  in India . Stuff like ecommerce is happening. Yes net banking, online purchase are no longer a taboo.
