One day I got a call from my father and I picked it up hoping that it would be just another enquiry call about how I was and what I am doing. Usually I am ready with the answers to these type of questions (different every time) but this time around the question was such that I had no clue what to say. No, he wasn’t asking me whether I would like get married. He told me that some association of industrialists are organizing a trade fair in the city and asked if it would be a good idea to set up a stall there to promote our business. Thinking being one of my favourite hobbies and having no immediate answer for the question, I decided to waste a few minutes of my father’s precious time and went into the ‘mull’ state.

Before you read this, please put your brain aside like you do while watching Bollywood movies.

Daddu goes to dreamland. A place where anything that you imagine, think
or wish comes true at the blink of an eye. While I was writing the
previous sentence, an idea crossed my mind. How good would it be to
wish that your every wish comes true? In this way you wouldn’t have to
spend time in the dreamland. But I guess I am taking this wishing thing
too seriously. After all, why would everything that you wish for come
true? Just imagine the chaos it would create in the world. Even 2

As a fact of matter there are more that 90 management institutes in the city of Pune. No matter what status they have in the country rankings or population wise, they cannot beat the enormity of Dhruv, the annual event of PUMBA. When you get 1600+ registrations from 100+ colleges all across the state, you know that people respect you. Such is the might of Dhurv, the biggest B-school event in the city and probably in the state.

I have been in a confused state a lot of times before but have never been under such a dilemma ever. This time around the matter I am dealing with is going to decide the course of my future.

The campus recruitment in my college has started and my prospects of getting the kind of job I want with the kind of package I am expecting are quite remote. And there is another important thing, I think there is something lacking in me which makes me a not so suitable candidate for the companies.  Aargh!!!!! Doesn’t matter, it’s their loss if they don’t want me.

Guess what?

PUMBA has the distinction of being the only institute to offer sectoral specializations instead of minor specializations. As of today PUMBA offers 5 sectoral specializations namely retail, health care, engineering, IT and ITES and banking and insurance. Sectoral specialization is an innovative and an effective way to meet the varying but specific requirement of the global world. Specialization is the name of the game today and providing the students with specific domain knowledge about the sectors means a win-win situation for everyone.
