My rain filled weekend

It was going to be a rain filled sodden weekend here in NC. Given that it always rains on weekends, I have always thought that some one should propose skipping may be two days just the way we adjust time every Spring and Fall. Mind you : I m not someone to complain about the rain - it has its advantages - in particular it helps me kick my feet on the sofa and exercise my fingers on the remote and I dont have to mow the lawn ( the grass is too wet) and ofcourse there s no watering the plants ( the rain is the source, acid rain be damned and doesnt matter if the hail will kill the plants anyway).  The danger of thunderstorms being omnipresent, there is not much to do outdoors anyway. They say the odds of you being bitten by a snake are much less than being struck by a lightning. By corollary, the chance of being struck by a lightning are high and so after much back and forth with the wife, I settle down as proof of Newton's first law ( law of inertia). Actually, I also heard some place that chances of being struck by a lightning are higher than winning a lottery. Decidely, I cannot afford to be outdoors. There remains the ominious possibility of having to do the housework ofcourse, vacuum the carpets, clean the floors, dust the furniture, mop the bath rooms and do the laundry. By a very strange coincidence I am allergic to a number of things - dust, detergents, cleaning agents. Being the good natured, ever ready to help husband, I offer to help and head for the medicine cabinet to pop my anti allergy tablets, rub my hydrocortisone and spray my Flonase.  Anti allergy medicine makes me drowsy, hydro cortisone raises my stress levels and Flonase ... well there must be something because I never end up having to do housework. Now that the housework is settled, I can lie down on the couch, flick the remote and watch TV without any compunctions.  This is my usual start to a nice, relaxing weekend. It rolls from breakfast Saturday to dinnder on Sunday . I could beat any sloth worth its name on a given ( well not a given but a rain filled ) weekend. Slow start some would say, in fact many have said or so it occurs to me. My neighbor for instance. He loves golfing, nothing against golf - but going golfing is just too much work. He stops by and curses the rain, I join in. Rob : "Damned rain, eh" Me : "Yeah. Its a pity, we could have hit a few balls, gone to Knights Play". Secretly thanking the rain God. Rob: "You know what, I heard they are building a new indoors driving range, want to check it out?" Me: ( Thinking, making appropriate expressions) " Is that right?, Man, that should be something. I wish we could go...." ( I bet you fifty bucks, I m *not * giving up my seat on the couch.) ... " but the Masters is on, Mickleson is winning"  - get me to watch TV anyday, beats going out and playing. Rob: "Man, change the channel, let us see how Woods is doing" Me : "Sure man". ( Both of us watch TV).   < in progress...>
