Why Things Go Wrong?

I never had an interest in reading books untill I started preparing for my MBA. Whenever you feel down and out of life my suggestion would be to watch an action movie like "The MATRIX-Reloaded" or read a good book. Because plenty of time in life things go wrong and you keep guessing WHY? And the answer lies in the:

Peter's Principle--"In a heirarchy individuals tend to rise to their levels of incompetence."

Dr. Laurence J. Peter in 'WHY THINGS GO WRONG?'--THE PETER'S PRINCIPLE REVISITED.

Life is a heirarchy. Take for example yourself (a general MBA student). You would have burned the midnight oil to secure 99 percentile in your exams and after getting into your favourite institute  you would be feeling on top of the world. But were or are you really able to sustain that performance. I was not because the PUMBA BLACK MAGIC fast caught up on me. So just because you secured  99 percentile in your entrance does not mean that you will stand 1st in your class and get a damn good placement. This book explains why it is so by using the famous Peter's Principle.

It's not just students but anywhere especially where there is administration wether business or governmental (places where heirarchy is most noticable) the Peter's Principle comes into the picture. The author slowly but subtly builds up the matter by using stories and anectodes from real life. The book is gripping and you can easily relate it to things around you. It is very humourous. Not once do you feel boring and although it humourous the message is very serious as said by the author himself in the book. So the next time you get a promotion (not just in job but in your life) and you cannot handle the situation you know WHY? Thank You Dr. Laurence J. Peter.
