Wanted Chameleons: do you qualify?

My childhood vividly reminds me observing a scene of slum children pelting stones at every sight of a chameleon. Curiosity compelled me to question the perennial act and spot came the reply to which my comprehension skills concluded as "Anything that changes is bad, such change is detrimental". I moved on....accepting it as a true phenomenon

Such powerful was this phenomenon, that this child's mind could accept anything but change, any change was viewed with an eye of suspicion, detest and what not. We are talking human relations and behaviour now. We live, yes, everyone here lives with friends, family, foes - corporate or personal. For this mind though, any change observed, was rather not viewed constructively...so, if a foe comes and says "wazzup...LTNC?"....the mind inside thought...hmmm "sarcastic attempt to ask hows u n whrs u?". Well, maybe the foe was changing...changing for good. BUT, I, with that closed mind, did not 'accept change positively'.

Is this a lesson then? A lesson so powerful that could probably save team relations, work better deals for two organizations in a takeover bid, develop better negotiating platform for two nations, maybe globally bring a better change. Ahhh....have I gone too far, well, but isnt' accepting change a problem? Yes it is, for a new boss to work with a younger team (team changes), for two companies to adapt a common culture while merging (takeovers and Acq's), for two nations to reduce security on their adjoining border lines (No guesses) or for bringing causes and solutions to global warming unanimously across nations (global change).Wish then, we humans, could change our thought process to suit a situation and drive our future prospects...wish we could be such chameleons who espouse change.

This nations economy, today, is at this very "accept change" point. For those policies that dread change will only be detrimental to the end users and the countries growth as a whole (read FDI in key sectors, nuclear deal et all). Change again, on a broader level, manifests innovation, inventions, R & D, consumer benefit and et all, all it needs is an environment that fosters change. But then, change for tomorrow is intangible, I suspect, people feel it as powerful as some do. Analyzing oneself to answer such questions helps a lot....try remembering when was the last time you as a manager (read MBA) or a corporate honcho (read leadership team), felt the need to drive change within ur capacity....while driving self responsibilities (read on the job), or driving a  team (read leadership)...maybe this happened with u just yesterday and u lost an opportunity to accept change...chances are u dreaded it

Replied

just an idea

We are all prejudiced and latently xenophobic with preconceived mindsets who view every change that remotely challenges our position as a threat and even campanology sounds death knell....i can quote many instances where in even a faddy relationship like one between a senior n junior, who are mere aquaintances, is full of suspicion, making Familiarity breeds contempt, thing of the past. Your utopian ideas can, at best, be echoed in the rhetorical speeches of politicans and corporate honchos. Iam not being pessimstic but only pragmatic.

Cheers,
