The World's Fastest Indian

“He’s the most determined man I have ever seen.”—that’s what a racing official in Bonneville says about Burt Munro who travels all the way from Invercargill in New Zealand to fulfill his dream, a dream that he has nurtured for the last 25 years.

Based on one hell of a true story “The world’s fastest Indian” is not so much about the world record for the fastest run for motorcycles under 1000cc that Burt Munro made in 1967 and one which still stands today but about the determination, courage and triumph of human spirit.

Academy award winner Anthony Hopkins as Burt Munro has given a memorable and remarkable performance. No one believes Burt in his home town except for his 12 year old friend. On his journey from a rustic town in a remote corner of the world (by American standards) to Bonneville in America he suffers from several hiccups such as paucity of money, heart attacks, a new country and everything and anything under the sun but nothing stops him. Burt accepts every situation as a part and parcel of life, a conspiracy to help him achieve his goal. He also encounters a number of characters who help him because of his charming nature. Not ‘help’ as we mean it but ‘help’ in a very subtle manner. You see, well begun is half done and the thought of a man on the edge of his life, traveling many miles to make a record with nothing but a modified 1920’s Indian motorcycle, some money and lots and lots of faith and determination is enough to set you pulse racing.

The movie is not one which glamorizes a character but it is a very simple story of an underdog where you will surely remember even the supporting actor and actresses.

A must watch.
