work and life balance

Recently I got a
forwarded sms which goes something like this ‘I work for money if you want
loyalty hire a dog
’. Such forwarded messages are just for fun but this one
stuck in my mind. How relevant or realistic this statement can be? In present
context when companies are releasing pink slips at the rate of dozen a dime why
should anyone be loyal to their organization.

As a corollary there are more queries. What is
correct balance of work and personal life?

At what level one becomes workaholic. Or should it be what is
least for the job? I’ve heard senior colleagues saying with pride that they
were so committed to their job that they didn’t realize their kids reaching
class 10. Is this really an achievement? You only live once.

Seasoned professionals advice a balance between
work and personal life. But there are no recipes to the correct amount. No
ready to cook meals. Everyone has to reinvent the wheel. The sooner one
realizes this lesser the repentance at the end of day. So, happy decision
making. Happy working and take time for the family and friends.
