What is Social Media? A question every marketeer is asking every other marketeer. Not many have the right answer.

And when you try to answer many marketeers (actually almost all) will give you the same old "Explain this to a monkey look!" Cause there is a feeling inbuilt in marketing from ages that all consumers are monkeys. So keep your campaign simple so that a Monkey would understand it.

Its OK to abide by that philosophy for a marketing campaign in general. But Social Media is not a marketing platform for your campaign. It is a conversation platform, and monkey don't do conversations. Real people and that too real people with real intellect form Social Media. So what ever you say or do will be not for monkey, but for the same group of people who have esembled the world best encylopedia - WikiPedia.

So for once as a marketeer please leave your baggage behind and come with an empty cup (not the monkey cup) to understand Social Media and its Impact.
